5 Cheap Make Up Products That You NEED
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt about makeup its that cost doesn’t necessarily mean quality.
Don’t get me wrong, most of the time the more expensive the makeup is, the better the quality. It is definitely worth the investment if you want makeup for special occasions.
However, we’re not all made of money… what happens on those days where we can’t get away with wearing no makeup, but need a little something to pass our face off as acceptable?
I don’t like wasting my good quality makeup unless I’m putting it on to look good/ for a proper occasion…. Things like going to work/ coping with life on a hangover/ going to the gym when I have shit skin – don’t warrant enough importance for me to waste my nice makeup on.
For such occasions we all need those cheaper makeup options that still do a good job, but cost a fraction of the price.
Here are my 5 recommendations for cheap make-up products:
- Miss Sporty Pump Boost Mascara – Black
This isn’t even a good cheap alternative, it’s actually one of the best mascara’s I’ve used.
I used to waste so much money buying YSL/ MAC mascaras that go gunky and clumpy after a while.
The miss sporty one is great because it provides you with a lot of coverage, length, volume and it doesn’t go clumpy. It’s also only £3.99 which is amazing.
Buy it from Superdrug in store of online >> here
- Highlighter – Kiko Water Eyeshadow, Light Gold (208)
This is by far one of the best highlighters I’ve ever used, even though it’s designed to be an eye shadow.
This product is usually out of stock in store because it’s so popular as a highlighter.
The pigment in the eyeshadow really makes your highlight glow, I wear it ALL the time. I really can’t stress how good it is.
My go-to shade is ‘Light Gold’ (208). I also have it in ‘Champagne’ (200) which I use when I’m wearing pink tones.
It’s only £8.90 and worth every penny. It’s better than it’s expensive counterparts like bobbi brown/ MAC.
Get it at any Kiko store, but you can order of their website >> here
- L.A. Girl Pro Conceal – Light Ivory
This is an amazing concealer and only costs a fiver. I know a lot of makeup artists that use this product as well.
It’s quite a thick concealer but great for under the eyes if you’re using a lighter shade to contour your face.
I use the shade Light Ivory and blend it using a small make-up sponge.
I also use this product in the purple and green shade to colour correct. The purple is for dark circles under my eyes and the green is for red blemishes/ spots.
I buy mine from a store in Westfield called ‘Beauty Bay’ but they also have an online store where you can get it >> here
- Collection 2000 Liquid Eyeliner
I’ve used this product for years, literally since I was about 14/15.
When I was younger I used to wear winged eyeliner every day… at one point it wanted it tattooed on (what a mistake that would’ve been).
I later discovered that I actually look better without eyeliner, but I do wear it on the odd occasion when I am going out and want a more glamorous look.
This product is great because it doesn’t smudge and it’s waterproof. It has a thicker brush applicator which I prefer as it makes it easier to apply.
It only costs £2.99 and you can get it from Boots/ Superdrug or online >> here
- NYX Nude Truffle Lip Liner
I have quite small lips, and, like I said in my previous post (5 best and worst products for redheads), I don’t like pink/ rose tones on my lips. I love nude/ beige/ brown tones.
This shade of lip liner is great because it’s a dark nude/ light brown which creates the illusion of bigger lips. What I tend to do is outline my lips with lip liner, then colour my entire lips in with it. I then apply a lighter nude lipstick shade which creates a blended colour on your lips 🙂
It’s only £3, which is a bargain considering I bought the same shade from MAC for about £15 and it does exactly the same thing.
Buy it in any NYX stores, Selfridges or online >> here
And there you have it! Save some money and still look good 🙂
